Thorns sparkles at awards ceremony

Thorns Group shined at this year’s BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards as the company ensured our sporting heroes were sitting comfortably.
As the public tuned in to watch the live telecast from Sheffield Arena and see footballer Ryan Giggs crowned the winner, Thorns was on hand to provide a wide range of equipment to the ceremony. Over 2,000 items including conference chairs, utility tables and banqueting tables were supplied.
Clair Whitecross, Thorns’ Group Sales Director, said: “BBC Sports Personality of the Year is a prestigious ceremony, one that we are proud to be associated with. Over the years the event has gained a high profile and glamorous reputation, and any equipment supplied to it therefore needs to reflect that ethos.”
The glittering event was attended by many sporting favourites including second place winner racing driver Jenson Button and
Jessica Ennis, the world champion heptathlete who came third.
The Lifetime Achievement award went to golfer Seve Ballesteros and the Overseas Sports Personality of the Year accolade was awarded to Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. The England cricket team were also honoured as they won the Team on the Year award for their victory over Australia in the Ashes series.
Thorns is no stranger to sporting success as it has supplied to a vast number of high-profile assignments including Wimbledon Championships, John Smith’s Grand National, Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, international Test Cricket, England football internationals, Six Nations Rugby and international golf tournaments.
