Thorns flies high at Royal International Air Tattoo

Over 160,000 people attended a thrilling weekend of flying at the Royal International Air Tattoo and Thorns Group was on site to ensure spectators were sitting comfortably.

The group provided the finest items across the show at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire during the two-day event.

 

Thorns’ furniture was used in a number of public areas and hospitality facilities including 18 different chalets for companies such as Rolls Royce, Cobham, VT Group, QinetiQ and Boeing.

 

The company, which has been supplying to the show for a number of years, provided a Over 160,000 people attended a thrilling weekend of flying at the Royal International Air broad range of items including banqueting tables and chairs, teak garden furniture, registration desks, the stylish Vancouver sofas and armchairs, coffee tables and bar units.

 

This year’s show saw the introduction of an exciting new product range – Malibu garden furniture which comprises of white high-back chairs and tables. The collection, which was seen during the airshow for the very first time, joins a stunning portfolio of furniture and catering equipment held by Thorns.

 

Staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, the Air Tattoo featured a thrilling flying display by the world-famous Red Arrows. In total, 269 aircraft took part, from 33 air forces representing 22 nations.

 

Visitors were able to view some of the most spectacular aircraft on display including the restored Avro Vulcan, one of the most iconic fighter jets of the Cold War era, and the French Air Force's new Dassault Rafale jet. The event was also supported by the Royal Air Force and many of the world’s leading aerospace companies.

 

Philippa Hayday-Brown, Special Events Manager for The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Enterprises, said: “As always it is a pleasure working with Darren and the Thorns team and this year everything went very smoothly.”

  Among the Royal and VIP guests who attended were HRH Prince Michael of Kent, HRH Lieutenant General Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein of Jordan, former Ministry of Defence Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Sir Glenn Torpy and US Air Force Chief of Staff General Norton Schwartz.
