Thorns’ new illuminated Atlantis Bar is celebrating a year of lighting up events across the UK.
The unique eye-catching bar was introduced into Thorns’ bar furniture range last autumn in response to customer demand for an affordable illuminated bar and was the brain-child of Thorns Head of Exhibitions, Adam Aston.Designed and constructed in-house, the fleet of Atlantis Bars have since been turning heads wherever they go, from the Southampton Boat Show and Aintree Grand National to private weddings and exhibitions.
An early edition of the bar even helped Thorns’ design team win a top award at the International Confex Show at Earls Court last year, when it glowed centre stage on the company’s stunning lilac-themed exhibition stand, awarded “Best Space” in the “Exhibition and Events Live” section. Last autumn it was refined into the present model which can be personalised with individual logos.
Thorns Group Sales Director Clair Whitecross said: “It is rare to be able to say something is unique, but the Atlantis Bar is truly one on its own and it has proved fantastically popular. It comes with either a black or silver wooden frame and an opaque front panel which glows in a wide range of colours. Customers can choose the colour to complement their own design schemes and even include their company logo in the illuminated effect.”
Every Atlantis Bar is constructed in Thorns’ own specialised workshops, based in Tottenham .The secret lies in gel sheets which, when combined with fluorescent tubes, create the amazing, glowing effect on the front of each bar. Turn-around time between customers is less than 24 hours thanks to the experienced team in the prep, paint and wood workshops.
Each time an Atlantis Bar is returned, it is given a thorough inspection and could spend time with highly skilled carpenters, sprayers or upholsterers before being customised with a unique look, ready to go out and wow the next customer.
“Our Atlantis Bar is the colourful chameleon of the event world. Exhibition and event organisers are always on the look out for ways of impressing their guests and customers – and this bar fits the bill in spades,” added Clair.
