Thorns serves an ace at Wimbledon

Andy Murray may have been forced to miss this year’s Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships, but Thorns Group managed to put in a winning performance at the world-famous tournament.
The group, the UK’s leading independent supplier of furniture and catering equipment, provided a large range of items to Wimbledon, serving areas that included the main entrance, the Executive Restaurant, the Garden Restaurant, administrative and engineering facilities, broadcasters’ suites, business centre and the Gatsby Club.
The contract marked another success for Thorns, which has been a long-time supplier to leading tennis tournaments such as Wimbledon and the high-profile Artois Championships at The Queen’s Club, London.
Thorns’ Group Sales Director Clair Whitecross said: “The world’s focus at Wimbledon inevitably falls on star names such as Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Justine Henin but there’s just as much activity behind the scenes as on Centre Court.”
Items provided by Thorns included banqueting tables, wooden and gilt banqueting chairs, teak garden furniture, Corbousier sofas and armchairs, trestle tables, oak office furniture, black leather office furniture and kitchen equipment.
Clair added: “Thorns is proud to have established a long and successful association with the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships and was delighted to have served another ace at the 2007 tournament! We look forward to continuing our relationship with the event in years to come.”
