Air Tattoo contract sees Thorns flying sky high

2 Jul 2007

Thorns Group will support many of the biggest names of the aviation world this month when it serves as furniture supplier to the prestigious Royal International Air Tattoo.

The group will provide top-quality items across the show site at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire during the two-day event, taking place on the weekend of July 14 and 15.

As an estimated crowd of more than 160,000 people heads for the annual air tattoo, Thorns’ furniture will be in use in a range of public areas and hospitality facilities including the Jubilee Gardens and the Babcock, Goodrich, Cobham, Hawker Beechcroft and Boeing chalets.

The group – the UK’s leading independent supplier of furniture, equipment and expertise to the events, exhibitions, conference and weddings sectors – will provide a broad range of items including tables, chairs, teak garden furniture, registration desks and lounge furniture.

It will also introduce an exciting new product range – its brand new cream-coloured Vancouver suite comprising stylish sofas and armchairs. The range, being seen during the airshow for the very fist time, joins a stunning portfolio of furniture and catering equipment held by Thorns. From its bases in London, Birmingham and Manchester, the group offers more than a million individual items for hire.

Thorns Group sales executive Darren Jackson said: “Thorns is constantly adding to its product range, so it’s great that we’re able to introduce our stylish new Vancouver sofas and armchairs for the air tattoo.”

He added: “The Royal International Air Tattoo has established itself as a firm favourite among exhibitors and visitors. With more than 300 aircraft heading to RAF Fairford, the 2007 event sees the tattoo going from strength to strength.”

Staged in support of the Royal Air Force Charitable Trust, the Air Tattoo features a thrilling eight-hour flying display. Planes taking part this year include fast jets, giant transporters, historic aircraft and the world-famous Red Arrows. The event is also supported by the Royal Air Force and many of the world’s leading aerospace companies.
