Rugby internationals offer sporting challenge for Thorns
4 Nov 2005
Thorns Group has been called into action as England’s rugby union players take on the might of Australia and New Zealand this month.
England’s two international matches – against Australia on Saturday November 12 and against New Zealand seven days later – are expected to attract huge crowds to Twickenham, the home of English rugby.
And Thorns Group will play its own part in the matches, by supplying a broad selection of furniture and equipment to the famous stadium’s hospitality facilities.
Individual items to be provided by Thorns will include thousands of natural banqueting chairs and hundreds of natural banqueting tables, together with registration desks, bar units, trestle tables, coat rails and cane lounge furniture. Other stock to be supplied includes ovens and hot cupboards.
This month’s fixtures form part of a long-running association between Thorns and high-profile rugby union internationals – and which is due to continue next spring when the group will once again supply items for hospitality areas at England’s RBS Six Nations matches at home to Wales and Ireland.
Thorns Group Managing Director Graham Langley-Jones said: “Thorns Group has shown its sporting credentials time and again at a host of top UK fixtures. Our work behind the scenes at rugby union internationals is mirrored by our efforts at sports that range from cricket to rowing, from football to snooker, and from tennis to horse racing.”
