Thorns Group in the fast lane at World MotoGP

Thorns Group joined the international motorcycling elite when it supplied large quantities of furniture to Donington Park for the recent MotoGP event.

The contract, which was tackled by the group’s Birmingham office, involved a wide range of Thorns’ equipment including garden furniture, linking chairs, desks, cupboards, utility tables, aluminium banqueting chairs, Samsonite chairs and kitchen kit.

The furniture was used across the site during the famous motorbike event, at locations that included the Paddock suites, Pitlane and a range of hospitality areas.

Clair Whitecross, Regional Director at Thorns Group’s Birmingham operation, said: “Thorns Group has been a regular supplier to the Donington Park track but we were particularly pleased to be asked to play such a major role at the MotoGP. Our equipment was used across the site for one of the premier events in the annual motorbike calendar.”

The event at Donington Park, near Derby, formed the ninth round of the World MotoGP, which features the sport’s top international riders. While Thorns was busy behind the scenes, the racing provided another success for leading Italian rider Valentino Rossi, whose seventh victory of the season helped tighten his grip on the world crown.

Thorns Group’s client at the MotoGP was Clear Channel Entertainment, the UK’s leading producer and marketer of live entertainment events.
