Thorns joins tennis elite at Stella and Wimbledon

Thorns Group served a double ace after being appointed as supplier to two of the world’s most famous tennis tournaments – the Stella Artois Championships and the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships.

The group – a regular contributor to many of the UK’s leading sporting fixtures – provided large quantities of furniture and equipment to the two events, held at London’s Queen’s Club and the world-renowned All England Club.

While sporting greats such as Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova, Lindsay Davenport and Andy Roddick were wowing the crowds, Thorns Group was busy behind the scenes as its equipment was used at a host of different locations.

At the Stella Artois Championships, Thorns supplied equipment to a vast range of areas including the sponsors’ facilities, executive marquees, public catering areas, staff tents, media centre and players’ lounge. Among the other areas serviced were the trainers’ room, box office area, brasserie and various offices, and dining and café areas.

Thorns provided the event with thousands of individual items of equipment, including banqueting furniture, utility tables, office furniture, stools, shelving, hat & coat stands, cane armchairs and registration units.

Meanwhile, the group’s equipment was also put to good use at Wimbledon, in locations that included hospitality marquees, office areas, kitchens, club lounges and staff tent. Visitors enjoyed a new look to the hospitality areas with Thorns introducing a stylish selection of beige, cream and brown lounge furniture as well as new rugs. Other equipment supplied to the championships included banqueting chairs, settees, bar units, mirrors, Mackintosh style chairs, coffee tables and a range of lamps.

Thorns Group Account Manager Craig Hammond, who was involved in both tennis assignments, said: “Thorns Group has established a tremendous working relationship with the organisers of hospitality facilities at both the Stella Artois and Wimbledon championships. We were delighted to be invited back to the tournaments this year to play such a key role in the hospitality areas of the two events.”
